Cordia (which is Latin for heart) is a Senior Residential Club at Grand Traverse Commons, that provides leased private residences to seniors (and much more than that!) After 13 months of construction, it is now open and ready for residents to move in. Needless to say, it’s the buzz of Traverse City at the moment.

Before the official opening, I went on a tour with Andy Kennedy, Vice President of Marketing at Cordia. He not only showed me around but also answered questions and showed off some of his favorite parts of Cordia. We stepped around a lot of people working on last minute touches, but by the time Saturday comes Andy assured me everything would be in place.

I got a pretty good feel for how large it was by walking around, but I had to ask, just how large is Cordia?

“Cordia’s portion of Building 50 is 115,000 square feet. We have 30,000 square feet of common space, which includes but is not limited to; Courtyard, lounge, pub, 50 seat theatre, salon and spa, woodworking studio, TV room, fine dining, covered porches and a plethora of sitting areas on the floors with private residences,” Andy says.

The abundance of amenities as well as the overall lifestyle is what Andy likes most about Cordia.

“For me Cordia is all about the lifestyle. I’m most excited to “feel” the energy of Club Members conversing in the pub with the piano playing in the background and a football game on the 50″ LED TV,” he says.
