Traverse City Area District Library (TADL) will be hosting their annual “Used and Almost Rare Book Sale” Friday, September 19 through Sunday, September 21 at the Main Branch library on Woodmere Avenue. There will be more than 10,000 varied books available and most will range from $1-$3. The book sale will offer hundreds of special, scarce, collectable, and unusual books which have accumulated this year. There will also be a “Rare Book Auction.” On Friday, September 19 there will be a “Friends of TADL Member Preview” from 6:30-8:30 pm. This is free to current Friends Members, but you if you aren’t a member you can become one at the door for only $10!

Special areas of acquisition this year will include some of the following:
• Some 300 Michigan books
• 160-plus Baseball books
• Native American and Western books
• Dozens of Art books
• Many Civil War and Military books
• Many fine First Edition fiction books
• Hundreds of Cooking books

As an added bonus on Saturday, from 10:30 – noon, everyone is invited to meet award winning author Rachel Weaver. Weaver will be available in the lovely Atrium (behind the stairs) overlooking the library gardens and Hull Park. She will share her debut novel, “Point of Direction,” which was recently chosen by Indie Bound as an Indie Next Pick! Limited copies of her book will be for sale.

Some 17-20 Silent Auction books will on the auction block in the McGuire Room beginning at the Member Preview Sale and continuing until 3 pm. Saturday afternoon. The auction will include many hard to find books of all sorts, old and new, signed and unsigned.

This year the Story Room located in Youth Services will include Gardening, Home Repair and Decorating, Cooking, Hobbies, and Crafts as well as many Youth and Children’s books. CDs, DVDs, Audio Tapes, and Laser Discs are also available.

This book sale runs all weekend:

Friday: Friends Member Preview 6:30-8:30 pm

Saturday: 9-5 pm

Sunday: Noon-3 pm **(all books half off, excluding auction items)

All sale proceeds benefit programming and other needs for TADL.
