On Saturday, August 16th, the non-profit Michigan Legacy Art Park will host its principal fundraiser event, the Legacy Gala, at Crystal Mountain Resort & Spa. The gala event will feature a wine reception, fundraiser auction, dinner, and keynote address paying tribute to former vice president of Michigan Travel and architect of the Pure Michigan campaign, George Zimmerman.

Tickets to the event are available at MyNorthTickets.com:

Art Park Director Renee Hintz says, “The Legacy Gala is an exciting and important event for the park. Not only is it our signature fundraiser for the year, it’s also a chance to gather with like-minded supporters of nature and the arts. We’re proud to recognize George Zimmermann and his team who did wonders in promoting our great state through the Pure Michigan campaign.”

The Michigan Legacy Art Park combines large art installations and the beauty of Northern Michigan’s outdoors into a 30-acre sculpture park set within the wooded hills of Benzie County. The Art Park’s land is leased from Crystal Mountain Resort for $1 a year. The park hosts various events throughout the year, including outdoor concerts and educational seminars.

During the fundraiser, items will be available to bid on in both a silent and live auction setting. A select listing of those items are as follows:

  • Pearl choker necklace, donated by Becky Thatcher Designs
  • Old Mission Peninsula Wine tour, donated by 2 Lads, Chateau Chantal and Marathon Flint Oil Co.
  • 6-day South African photo safari
  • 4-night stay at The Homestead near Glen Arbor, donated by Roger Garrett
  • Fine art from various Northern Michigan artists
