The Botanical Garden at Historic Barns Park is a non-profit organization that, since 2000, has been working to create a regional botanic garden in Northwest Michigan. In 2009 the organization was awarded management rights to 25 acres of the Historic Barns Park—located on the southern edge of the Grand Traverse Commons—and a master site plan was completed.  In 2010, the Botanic Garden collaborated with the Traverse City Recreational Authority on a $l.5 million capital campaign, with the funds raised to be designated for the redevelopment of the Cathedral Barns and renovation of an adjacent former granary to be used as the Botanic Garden’s Visitors Center. With work completed on the Visitors Center, the Garden Fest is an unofficial unveiling of the Botanic Garden.

The Botanic Garden is located at 1490 Red Drive, Traverse City, Michigan within the Grand Traverse Commons. Handicap accessible parking and shuttles from satellite parking will be available.
