Mt. Holiday hosted the slick and muddy ride for this year’s Mud, Sweat & Beers Fat Tire Fest in Traverse City this past Saturday, May 3rd. MyNorth staffer Dani Davis was there soaking-up the rain and celebrating another great Northern Michigan outdoor event. Mud, Sweat & Beers 2014Mt. Holiday was drenched in rain this past Saturday morning for the annual Mud, Sweat & Beers Fat Tire Fest in Traverse City. A sea of beer-loving mountain bikers lined up in waves to tear up the sludge laden trails. Their traverse, whether twenty-two or twelve-miles long, was through winding woods, wet sand, and silty mud. Legs burning, each rider finished with a switchback cruise down the sodden face of Mount Holiday only to be greeted first by a Mud Pit, then by Northern Michigan brews from Right Brain Brewery. There was no better way to celebrate the sludgery of May showers. People from all over the state gathered to exercise endurance, sweat the mud, and share the good cheer. After the race, the riders were identifiable by flecks of mud about their faces like wearable confetti.
