Wedding photographers are a lucky bunch: they get to preserve the most romantic moments of people’s lives on film, see the beautiful places that inspire such love and get paid to do it all … which is not to say wedding photography is all fun and games.  Melissa Lande of Lux Light Photography takes us to five Northern Michigan wedding venues that have provided the backdrop to some of her most stunning wedding photographs.  Scroll to the bottom to see a gallery with full-sized images.

Built in a French Renaissance style, Castle Farms in Charlevoix is an architectural jaw-dropper, and the perfect backdrop to a fairy tale wedding.  Bride and groom Ana and John enjoy a kiss at one of the property’s many gardens.

Chateau Chantal on Old Mission Peninsula

As one of Northern Michigan’s most scenic areas, Old Mission Peninsula is a hub for Up North wedding celebrations.  At Chateau Chantal—one of the most accomplished wineries around Traverse City—enjoy views of both East and West Grand Traverse Bays, rolling orchards and vineyards, and an inimitable sense of comfort.  Bride Maureen poses between vines and under an idyllic blue sky.

The Open Space in Traverse City

With groom Dan being stationed in Traverse City’s Coast Guard Station, he and bride Rebecca knew that a nautical themed wedding was only fitting, and the ceremony’s location was an easy decision: The Open Space adjacent to West Grand Traverse Bay near Traverse City.  With green grass underfoot, a stunning view of West Bay to the north, Old Mission Peninsula to the east, Leelanau Peninsula to the west, and Traverse City to the South, the Open Space offers space and comfort despite being at the center of it all.

Gills Pier Winery on Leelanau Peninsula

With facilities to host blockbusters, small gatherings, or anything in between, Gills Pier Winery is both rustic and elegant, and nestled into the scenic Leelanau Peninsula.  Bride and groom Lyndsey and Mike pose near the wineries rows of wine grapes.

Black Star Farms in Suttons Bay

Suttons Bay’s Black Star Farm houses a fully functional farm, winery, and inn, meaning your wedding’s guests can stay, sip, and dine in house—it’s a little something called “the Path of Least Resistance.”  Bride Shonda poses next to the farm’s blooming cherry trees.
