We caught up with the lucky winner to learn more about her background in the Mitten State.
What is your ideal day Up North?
It would start with breakfast overlooking Lake Charlevoix, visiting all the local shops, taking the ferry from St. Ignace to Mackinac Island walking up to St. Anne’s cemetery to place flowers on my grandmother’s grave, picking up dinner and eating at the base of the Grand Hotel, watching the sunset.

 

So are you originally from the Detroit area?

I’m originally from Grand Rapids, but my father’s family is from Mackinac Island. I spent many childhood summers along the beaches by Grand Haven. These days we get the family together and meet once a year at the lake. But the favorite vacation of all is heading to Sleeping Bear Dunes and then north toward Mackinac Island.

When do you plan on cashing in your vacation?

Maybe March? My husband and I would love to use it for an early celebration of our 45th wedding anniversary.
