Summer is in gear and so are Northern Michgan’s festivals and events. Cherry Festival has just past, but don’t fret MyNorth is here to tell you about some upcoming events.
Steve Miller
This coming Wednesday, July 17th the infamous Steve Miller Band will be performing at Interlochen as part of their 2013 Summer Arts Festival. One of rock & roll’s “all time greats,” they will be performing on the Kresge stage. Not only will hundreds of fans be there to listen to their greatest hits, but our MyNorth crew will be there as well listening to the tunes. So if you taking the evening and grooving to “The Joker” or “Fly Like an Eagle” make sure to stop by our yellow tent and say hi.
Wine on the Water Festival in Suttons Bay
“Enjoy a day of wine, food and music all with a waterfront view.” The event takes place in downtown Suttons Bay at the Marina Park and will feature tastes from local wineries and breweries, delicious food from Leelanau Peninsula’s restaurants and talented local area artists. There will also be live music from the Sour Belly Trio, Ron Getz & Ron Hernandez, as well as Thirsty Perch Blues Band.

Elk Rapids Harbor Days
Elk Rapids Harbor Days celebration has been a popular event in northern Michigan for over 50 years. Families of all ages can enjoy the abundance of activities provided throughout the 4-day event. MyNorth will be there on “Kid’s Day,” Friday, August 2nd.
Harbor Days will be including Hole-in-One Golf, races, and other activities to try out. Make sure to come out with all the family members and have a great day out in Elk Rapids. So, when you see our yellow tent come stop by and let us know about your favorite activity of the day, plus a chance to win a special prize!
Friday Night Live
The Friday Night Live series will be commencing! Beginning Friday, August 2nd, downtown Traverse City’s Front Street will be turning into a block party! Jazz, art, food and fun will fill the streets from 5:30-9:00 pm and will feature a full slate of music, entertainment, food, demonstrations and family activities along the 100 and 200 blocks of East Front.
Each Friday activities include juggling, face painting, caricature artists, balloon twisting, hands-on activities and entertainment led by area non-profit groups. Also performing "on stage" along Front Street are entertainers from the region and beyond.
Our table will be located in front of our old office on East Front Street and will have great activities for you and your kids to take part in. Plus while you’re there make sure you enter to win a free vacation in one of Northern Michigan’s fantastic getaways spots.
