Sisters Shari Fauch-Prevost and Shawna Asher began making candles as Christmas presents for friends and family and they quickly realized that their candles were the perfect keepsakes from the Grand Traverse area. Fauch-Prevost and Asher discovered that the scents they created, triggered memories of Leelanau County and the surrounding area. “We want to remind you of special memories of time spent in Leelanau County,” Fauch-Prevost said.
Soon after that Leelanau Candle Co. was born. The sisters hand craft each candle with products that are all made in the United States. The scents of their candles include “Dune Grass”, “Leelanau Lemonade” and “Skinny Dipping.” These unique scents are meant to capture Northern Michigan so they make the perfect souvenirs from the area. “(The candles) are a really economical way for someone to take something from our area home with them,” said Fauch-Prevost.
Leelanau Candle Co. products are sold throughout Leelanau and Grand Traverse County. Fauch-Pevost and Asher hope that everyone who lights one of their candles, no matter where they are, will be taken back to their beloved Leelanau County.
