Traverse City News: Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City has been awarded the 2012 MH-65 Aviation Standardization Excellence Award for exemplary performance during their annual standardization evaluation held in September of 2012.
The MH-65 Standardization Excellence Award is each spring following the annual evaluation of each of the eighteen MH-65 Air Stations located around the country. The award is presented by Coast Guard Aviation Training Center located in Mobile, Alabama.
Annual on-site standardization visits are an essential part of the Coast Guard Aviation Training and Standardization Program. The top units in each aviation community are selected to receive this recognition based on award criteria which includes pilot and crewmember flight performance, open and closed book exam scores, condition of training records, overall unit evaluation, and rescue swimmer physical training performance.
Cmdr. Joseph Buzzella, Commanding Officer of Air Station Traverse City said, “I could not be prouder of the men and women of Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City. This achievement is truly a testament to their hard work and dedication to the Coast Guard’s Core Values and Missions. This further shows the unit’s dedication to ensuring the citizens of the Great Lakes can count on Air Station Traverse City to be Semper Paratus – “Always Ready” – for the call.”
