New MyNorthTickets Kiosk at Horizon Books is the Topic of Up Front Friday TV Show

Northern Michigan Events: MyNorthTickets connects people to great Northern Michigan events and attractions through a new MyNorthTickets ticket buying kiosk located on the lower level in Horizon Books. Anyone in Traverse City can buy tickets to Northern Michigan events there, including cooking classes, boat rides, festivals, events, seminars, concerts, theater and more. The MyNorthTickets kiosk is available from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day of the week.

"Through MyNorthTickets, you can buy Northern Michigan tickets from anywhere," says Deborah Wyatt Fellows, founder of Traverse, Northern Michigan's Magazine and president of MyNorth Media. "When one is in Traverse City, one can drop into Horizon Books and get tickets there at the MyNorthTickets kiosk. Everything you need to search, buy and print your ticket is on Horizon Books' River Level."

Additionally tickets are available online at MyNorthTickets.com 24 hours a day and by phone toll free at (800) 836-0717 during business hours. "If one has a smart phone, tablet or laptop with internet access you can use MyNorthTickets anywhere," says Fellows. "But not everyone has a smart phone, so this is another means for enjoying more of what Northern Michigan offers."

MyNorthTickets has been a vision of Fellows since the early days of Traverse Magazine. "For the last 30 years, our mission has always been celebrating Northern Michigan and events and attractions are a big part of that allure," says Fellows. First, Traverse Magazine published a calendar of events every month–hundreds of events, as many as could fit on the pages. And for the last 5 years, MyNorth.com has long been home to Northern Michigan's largest calendar of events, growing to thousands of events in the summer.

"When our audience reads about a great concert, cooking class or a wine tour, they want to go. Now they can click the 'buy tickets' button and be on their way. MyNorthTickets was the missing step," says Fellows.

And now that step is available in another way, through the partnership with Horizon Books. The MyNorthTickets kiosk provides access downtown to vacationers, day trippers or even people who want to add an impromptu event to their day in Traverse City.

"Horizon Books has long been a hub of activity in Traverse City," says Amy Reynolds, sales manager and a member of the family that has owned Horizon Books for 50 years. "Plus our store has a cozy fireplace, coffee bar, loooong hours in Traverse City; it's the perfect place to relax, read about an event and plan to go by getting the tickets."

The new kiosk is one of the topics planned for Horizon Books' live TV program, Up Front Fridays, named because the show is produced in the front of the store facing Front Street. The show is a conversation focused on events in the Grand Traverse region and aired on Up North TV. Always full of interesting guests, Up Front Fridays has its finger on the pulse of Traverse City. Previous shows are available online at HorizonBooks.com.

UpNorth TV is available to Charter Cable subscribers on analog Channel 97 and digital Channels 2 and 992 from Manistee to Cheboygan in Michigan's northwest lower peninsula. Shows are also broadcast and archived on upnorthmedia.org.

MyNorth Media is open to additional Northern Michigan kiosk locations as MyNorthTickets grows. For organizations, selling tickets through MyNorthTickets is free.
