Northern Michigan Event: Shanty to Shorts 5K/10K Fun Run, May 11th

Northern Michigan Events: The second annual “Shanty 2 Shorts” 5k and 10k fun run/walk will be Saturday May 11, 2013. The point-to-point run will be held literally from the front doors of Shanty Creek’s Lakeview Hotel & Conference Center to the front door of Short’s Brewpub in downtown Bellaire, Michigan.
 
“When I realized that the distance from The Lakeview [Hotel] to Short’s [Brewpub] was exactly 3.1 miles, I knew we had to host this race annually”, says Steve Kershner, Director of Snowsports and Summer Recreation at Shanty Creek. “Last year’s inaugural race was a huge success with rave reviews of the courses, the awards, and garnered support from the whole community.”
 
Unique trophies will be awarded to overall male and female and master male and female winners in each race, with age group awards going to first, second and third place males and females. The race will start at 10am, and will be computer-chip timed, allowing for an awards ceremony to be held shortly after the finish at Short’s Brewpub.
