Benzie County Mushroom Hunting, Wildflower Walks, and Bird Watching

Early to Late May (Depending on weather conditions)

In the spring visitors delight in looking for prized morel mushrooms and spring leeks that grow wild in the meadows and woodlands. Wild flowers and bird watching are also favorite activities for nature lovers.

Benzie County is also a great place to hunt for morel mushrooms due to its natural habitats that include forests, riverbeds, fields, and natural paths along old railroad tracks that are now used for hiking and biking. There is also a handy morel mushroom hunting guide on visitbenzie.com within the spring page under “things to do”.
