Northern Michigan Food & Wine: Got a hankering for a California Roll? How about a Michigan Roll or Edamame? Then mark your calendar for Wednesday—any Wednesday—when Aerie Lounge on the 16th Floor of the Tower at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa features a specialty sushi menu along with a selection of premium sake.
Sushi is made fresh every Wednesday by the chefs in the kitchen at Aerie. The current menu selections include California Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Vegetable Roll, Tempura Roll, Michigan Roll, and Edamame. Four varieties of premium sake also are available to complete the experience. (Sushi and sake menu selections are subject to change.)
But don't go looking for sushi any other night in Aerie Lounge, because that menu is served up only on Wednesdays. Aerie Lounge does have two other specialty nights: Monday and Thursday.
Mondays at Aerie Lounge are "Women's Wine Night" featuring wines by the glass at 50% off, 5:00-7:00 p.m., and a special appetizer menu that pairs well with the wine selections.
Thursdays are "Burger & Pint Night" where you can enjoy a juicy bacon burger and a Michigan craft beer pint for $15. These hearty burgers are 50% beef, 50% bacon with Creole seasoning, a roasted Portobello mushroom cap, blue cheese and sriracha aioli, served with hand cut fries. Available Michigan microbrew pints include New Belgium Brewery Fat Tire Amber Ale, Short's Brewing Bellaire Brown, Founders Brewing Porter, New Holland Brewing Mad Hatter IPA, Short's Brewing Huma Lupa Licious, and Bell's Brewery Amber Ale. Just the pint, but no burger? In addition, pints are $3 each, 5:00-7:00 p.m.
