Yeti-Look Alike Contest

9:00 am Registration starts at the school and continues until 1:00pm,  Awards at  2:00 pm

Just before the awards ceremony at 2:00 pm the judges will crown the best Yeti Look-Alike. What does it take to compete? Who knows, but we think being hairy may be helpful. A good beard may give a contestant an edge but we’ll let a Yeti decide. To be judged, just show up and “be sighted” at Waterwheel Park by 1:30 pm. Or better yet, show up a bit early and model for the Abominable Snowman contest for the kids!

1.2 miles of wintery bliss! The course takes you through the streets of Suttons Bay, over and around snow obstacles, before ascending the steep and snowy Bahle Hill. The obstacles are designed to keep things interesting, with locations, size, and shape kept secret until race day. The true test of this adventure is the ascent up Bahle Hill. It is 0.2 miles long, rises 141 vertical feet, and averages a 10% grade. Bahle Hill is Suttons Bay’s ski and sledding hill. Conditions are unknown until race day but be prepared for snow and ice. Pack your snow bike or mountain bike and leave the skinny wheels at home, and register now for the big race!

Abominable Snowman Contest

11:00 am – 1:30 pm @ Water Wheel Park, judging at 2:00 pm

Weather permitting (we’ll need snow) we’ll gather in Water Wheel Park from 2:00pm to 3:00pm and have children and adults alike work at building their idea of an Abominable Snowman. Don’t worry if it turns out ugly, it’s supposed to be abominable after all.

Yeti Story Time

Calling all young Yetis. What do stories, face painting, crafts, and Yeti have in common? They will all be at the Suttons Bay Bingham District Library for Yeti-Fest! Join the Library for stories of the Yeti at 12pm then use the inspiration to create a Yeti hat while also getting your face painted to look like a Yeti. There will be a snack provided but make sure you feed your yeti before the festivity.

Kid’s Expeditionary Parade

1:30 pm – 2:00 pm Starting @ the Library, ending in Water Wheel Park

With faces painted and Yeti swag you'll trek through the village of Suttons Bay in style to Waterwheel Park. This is a callithumpian style parade full of noise and fun. The banging of pots and pans, noisemakers and lot’s of hooting and hollering shall commence and you'll call in the Yeti to join the occasion and the day.

Be sure to bring your noise maker…pots, pans, spoons, or anything you can bang together!
