Traverse City Events: Lunch in downtown Traverse City never sounded so good! City Opera House opens January 8th through February 12th for free lunch time entertainment. From 12 pm to 1 pm , the City Opera House Towlsey Lobby will transform into a live TV musical variety show starring singer and songwriter Miriam Picó.  Bring a lunch, bring your friends and be part of a LIVE TV musical variety show benefitting local nonprofits. While admission is free, donations are encouraged.

Picó will perform with David Chown on keyboards, and she’ll welcome other special musical guests each week, including Jeff Haas, Billy Strings with Don Julin, The Accidentals and One Hot Robot. Co-Host Courtney Fountain-Hanley, the 2005-06 Cherry Queen, will introduce viewers to major local artists including Bill Allen, Victoria Velting, Glenn Wolff, Kim Bazemore and Mimi Wheeler. Regular guest Michael Delp will also be on hand to offer his irreverent poetic commentary on life in northern Michigan.

Additionally, each week, Picó will also feature one of our region’s great nonprofit service organizations. The show will include a special video salute to the featured nonprofit. There’s no ticket charge for any of the shows, but donations are encouraged, as all donations go to the featured nonprofit to support its good work in our community. Participating nonprofits include the Women's Resource Center, the Fresh Food Partnership, Building Bridges with Music, Cherryland Humane Society, Old Town Playhouse and Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center.

Bring a lunch and your friends to Picnic at the Opera starring Miriam Picó. Spend your lunch hour downtown in the beautiful, Victorian City Opera House with talented musicians and artists while supporting a great nonprofit organization. Picnic at the Opera will also be broadcast live on UpNorthTV cable channels 97 and 992.
