Traverse City Events: Tickets are now available for the hottest female comic today! Stand-up comedian, Kathleen Madigan returns, bringing her Gone Madigan tour to City Opera House in Traverse City, Mich. on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013. Come laugh away the winter doldrums, turning your blah blah blah winter into a Ha Ha Ha good time!
Making a return trip to City Opera House on Valentine’s Day 2013, Madigan last performed to a sold-out City Opera House audience on June 7, 2008. Kathleen Madigan has never been hotter in her 22-year career. Currently she is performing in 100 theater gigs across the country and has numerous TV appearances. Not to mention that the DVD-CD of her Showtime special, Gone Madigan, is topping Amazon and iTunes charts.
Madigan was a finalist in season 2 of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” and a judge on season 5. She has also won the American Comedy Award for “Best Female Comedian” and the Phyllis Diller Award for “Best Female Comedian.” She remains the only comedian in the history of “Last Comic Standing” to go unchallenged — meaning no other comedian has dared say they were funnier than her — showing that Madigan is not only the best female comedian right now, but one of the best stand-up comedians in the nation. During the 2010 USO Holiday Tour, Madigan shared the stage with Robin Williams, Lewis Black, Kix Brooks and Admiral Mike Mullen.
Madigan was born in St. Louis and while she currently lives in Los Angeles, it’s her Midwestern sensibility that fuels her irreverent comedy which she has described as “Midwest logic with sarcasm mixed with resignation that it’s all out of our control at the end of the day, so just have a drink.” So, it’s “not surprising, she has found it’s a style of humor that resonates with audiences in the heartland.” – Green Bay Press
When Madigan isn’t busy she likes to make it back to her “farm,” a gathering spot for her parents and six siblings, which would fit seamlessly in Northern Michigan with its wooded trails, her hunting cabin and four-wheelers. If she had her way, her “farm” would have a couple of goats as well. “I don’t know why but goats just make me laugh.”
Tickets are priced at $33 and can be purchased now at whartoncenter.com or by calling (231) 941-8082.
