Some of the best freeskiers and snowboarders in the Midwest will be at Crystal Mountain on January 5th to kickoff the 2013 Michigan Monster Energy Winter Cup Series.  It’s an event that will showcase snowsports at a whole new level.

Competitors will negotiate multiple rails, boxes, and big air-launching hits in Crystal’s Tuck’s Terrain Park as they battle for a share of more than $4,000 in cash and prizes.

“When we started to develop this series we wanted to make sure we had all the right elements to challenge the competitors,” said BoneheadX.com’s Greg Flowers, event manager for the series.  “Getting back to the core of riding, we selected the slopestyle discipline to showcase the athlete’s talent from an overall judging standpoint.”

Crystal is the first of three stops on the series with events planned for Boyne Highlands and Shanty Creek in February.

The competition begins Saturday night, under the lights, at 6pm, awards will be handed out after the event, and then competitors and spectators alike can continue the fun at the Monster Energy VIP after party in the Crystal Center.
