Northern Michigan Events: Shanty Creek Resorts, which opened its slopes over the weekend, will kick off its 50th Anniversary celebration this Friday December 21 with a Sardine Special and Shorts Brew.

Pack your vehicle and head over to Shanty Creek this Friday for its 50th Anniversary “Sardine Special” for $50. This Sardine Special, a Shanty Creek tradition, allows guests to “squeeze as many skiers and riders into a car, truck, or van” and everyone in the vehicle receives a lift ticket to skis/ride at Schuss Mountain for a total of $50.

In addition to the Sardine Special, Shanty Creek is also debuting its newest custom beer developed by Shorts Brewing Co. in Bellaire to commemorate the resorts 50 years of winter excellence. Make sure to head into Ivan’s Mountainside Grill at Schuss Mountain to taste the new Schwartzbier brew “Black Diamond”, which is a German-style lager celebrating winter and skiing.

Shanty Creek Resorts hours of operation next Friday are 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. For more information about the events and slope conditions, visit
