Traverse City Events: Pro-social youth program Building Bridges with Music is hosting an open house at their new building on Saturday, November 17, from 3-5 p.m. The afternoon promises edibles from Cooks' House, Kidzart make-your-own instrument, and a special "Jam with Jeff" session led by Founder Jeff Haas (instruments provided – no experience necessary!). Come on out to see their new place at Grand Traverse Circuit, 225 W. 14th Street!
Building Bridges with Music impacts attitudes and behaviors of youth and adults through interactive workshops, accompanying curriculum, teen mentoring and community presentations. The purpose is to promote open-mindedness, tolerance, understanding, acceptance and peace, thereby reducing bullying, prejudice, hatred and violence.
Using the universal language of music, Building Bridges with Music is an innovative and effective program that begins this important conversation and serves as an effective tool to reinforce the work that is done in the schools to develop responsible citizens. Supporters Yvette and Blake Ringsmuth stated, “The arts have a way of opening up our hearts. When our hearts are opened we are more able to connect with our community, including those that are different from us.”
