Northern Michigan Community: Sitting at the heirloom table and staring down the bronze Butterball, I admit that giving thanks doesn't always come as naturally as it should. First, there's the melodramatic cry of hunger. Clearly the massive hors d'oeuvre bar I conquer 30 minutes prior just doesn't cut the mustard. And the moment "amen" rolls off the lips, the competition is on—fork in hand, I'm ready to claim some serious turkey territory.
So before Grandma's kitchen gets the best of me tomorrow afternoon, I thought I could use a little reminder of just how thankful I ought to be. And, maybe in the hooplah of holiday prep, you could use a reminder too. This year, we give more and take less.
