Northern Michigan Wine: Sales of the special-label bubbly Connect, created by Leelanau Peninsula’s L. Mawby Vineyards, are benefitting the Leelanau Trail Paving Campaign, an effort that’s raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to enhance area paths. Some 18,000 bottles of the sparkling wine will be distributed through December, with $1 from each bottle sold donated to the campaign. The bottle features Lisa Wilkins Schulte’s painting of the iconic yellow caboose situated beside the trail at Carter Road. $15 at the vineyard, 4519 S. Elm Valley Road in Suttons Bay, or at retail spots including Kap ‘n’ Keg, Cherry Stop, Blue Goat, Maxbauer’s After Hours on Front Street, and Cedar City Market.
