Northern Michigan Microbreweries:  Craft beer-lovers, take note: Northern Michigan continues to live up to its “Top 7 Beer Destinations” designation, as recently declared by Cheers to the following changes and additions to our robust regional craft brewing:

Beards Brewery: Downtown Petoskey’s sole microbrewery opened mid-August at 207A Howard St., Petoskey.

Right Brain Brewery: TC’s beloved and inventive brewery has moved to a new, larger location across town at 225 E. 16th St.

Boardman River Brewing Co.: Taking the Garland Street space vacated by Right Brain, this brewery expects to open early fall.

Ferment: A fall opening is planned for Ferment, which will feature beers crafted with local ingredients and served up in a historic Old Towne setting at 511 S. Union St.

Beggars Brewery: An alehouse with American and European styles, Beggars is set to open by Halloween on Village Park Drive near the Traverse City Beach Bums stadium.

The Filling Station Microbrewery: Well-crafted brews, good pizzas and a light-filled setting within TC’s former train station (ample outdoor seating as well). Steaming ahead. 642 Railroad Place.

Brewery Terra Firma: A “farm-to-mug” microbrewery located on a seven-acre farm south of Traverse City, 2951 Hartman Road. Opening near year-end.

Petoskey Brewing: Located on M-119, the brewpub expects to open in a historic former brewery this fall.
