Northern Michigan Events: On Saturday, July 21, 2012, see a group which from its conception has truly embodied the Northern Michigan spirit. The Ann Arbor-based Yellow Room Gang began in December 2005, when eight Michigan songwriters gathered in now-member David Tamulevitch's yellow living-room. So enthralled were they by the friendship and musical chemistry which resulted from that first dinner party, that the eight atendees formed The Yellow Room Gang, which now meets once a month to share dinner, conversation and songs. What could be more Northern Michigan than that?
Now the eight members (David Barrett, Jim Bizer, Annie Capps, Kitty Donohoe, Michael Hough, Jan Krist, David Tamulevich and Matt Watroba) each of whom are accomplished songwriters and singers in their own right, regularly preform in and around Michigan and have released two CD's, The Yellow Room Gang – Vol 1 and
. Each member brings their own distinct talents, taste and experiences to the song writing process. The product of this musical mixing? Unique lyrics, complex acoustic picking and an amazing stage performance alive with sharp banter and obvious comraderie. The Yellow Room Gang will be preforming at Aten Place on Saturday, July 21, 2012. The Aten Place, a nonprofit venue owned by Bill and Maxine Aten in Boyne Falls, is just an hour's drive from Traverse City. Once a simple barn, Aten Place has been converted into a performance space that comfortably seats 175. The down-home flavor of the old days still remains though, as guests gather around the picnic and bonfire pit before and after events.
Concerts run all summer long, all shows beginning at 7:30. Tickets go on sale at 6:30 the day of the performance.
