Traverse City National Cherry Festival: Women swoon over him, men envy his carpentry skills, and all of Traverse City waits with baited breath for his next visit home- but its still hard to be jealous of Carter Oosterhouse. The celebrity handyman is just too nice not to like! On Thursday, July 12 at 6 p.m., Oosterhouse will run a one mile race with local children at the First Annual 'Carter's Kids Festival Fun Run and Walk.' The run will follow the National Cherry Festival's Touchstone Energy Junior Royale Parade Route, and each participant will receive an official race bib, medal, and refreshment.

Families are encouraged to register children ahead of time, at cherryfestival.org. Day-of registration will also be available at F&M Park on July 12, beginning at 5 p.m.

Carter Oosterhouse and the National Cherry Festival are partnering to bring more healthy children's activities to the Festival. Oosterhouse continues this work through his foundation, Carter's Kids– a non profit organization dedicated to promoting fitness awareness and self esteem for America's youth. Carter's Kids develops community parks and playgrounds, involving local youth in the planning and execution of each project.

Oosterhouse says "Our purpose of promoting activity, nutrition, and fighting childhood obesity, has lead us to build playgrounds in communities all over the United States. We have experienced firsthand the positive effect that each playground had brought to their community."
