Mackinac Island Fourth of July: Spend the whole day on Mackinac Island celebrating the Fourth of July for a "Star Spangled Fourth of July on Mackinac Island!"
During the day visit Fort Mackinac and go see the 38 Gun Salute as well as soldier demonstrations, canon firing, dancing and much more from one of the only two remaining all-original Revolutionary War Forts in America. After, feast at the "All American Picnic," catered by the Grand Hotel.
For kids and families, the Mackinac Island Fire Department is hosting the Fun & Games at Windermere Point. Attempt to do the Greasy Pole Climb or take on a family member in an Old Fashioned Sack race!
When dusk is about to fall get ready for the Mackinac Island fireworks show. There are excellent fireworks to be watched on the water or from the shoreline on the west end of Main Street to Grand Hotel. Bring blankets to stretch out on the shoreline or folding chairs to watch from the school yard. Guests of the Grand Hotel may watch from the world's longest summer porch. If you want to see them up close and personal every ferry line offers boats that can take you out underneath the show!
