Northern Michigan Kids: Join Sleeping Bear Dunes' park rangers for a FUN afternoon! Families United with Nature (FUN) will hold a water color workshop on May 5 at 3:00 p.m. to help you get in touch with your creative side.

Park rangers will provide your family with paper and watercolor paints for this month's FUN event, and invite you to create a masterpiece with the beautiful and historical Sleeping Bear Dunes as inspiration. Interested families should meet at the Cannery in Glen Haven, MI.

FUN is a free Northern Michigan outdoor activity club for families, hosted by Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Each month park rangers lead various programs designed to help families get outdoors together to enjoy fresh air and revel in creative expression. To join the FUN club, simply attend a FUN event and fill out a membership card. You can go to whichever events you choose, and will be given a journal to document your FUN outdoor activities.

While all FUN events are free, a National Lakeshore Entrance Pass is required for each vehicle. The Entrance Pass costs $10 and is good for a full week for everyone in the vehicle. The Annual Park Entrance Pass is only $20 and good for a year from purchase date. Buy either pass at the Philip A. Hart Visitor Center in Empire.

Reservations for programs are not required, but are recommended by contacting Park Ranger Sarah Chalup at 231-326-5135, ext. 331, or sarah_chalup@nps.gov.
