Traverse City Events: Tony Furtado has been hailed as a "genius" on banjo and slide guitar and has garnered a national cult following for his unique interpretation of Americana and indie-rock. He burst onto the music scene over 25 years ago as a teenager, when he won two National Banjo Championships by the age of 19. Now a multi-instrumentalist, Furtado is touring in release of his fifteenth album, "Golden," which he recorded and produced in Portland. The performer is renowned for his energetic stage presence and lively stories of traveling on the road, an act that's been honed by his average 200-250 live performances across the country each year.
