Wake Up Mackinac Island! This tranquil island with its clippety-clop of horse hooves (no cars allowed on Mackinac!), Victorian cottages, dreamy fudge and gorgeous Lake Huron vistas will be at the epicenter of national politics September 23-25 for the Republican Leadership Conference. GOP frontrunners Texas Governor Rick Perry and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney will be on the island to deliver addresses.
The Biennial Republican Leadership Conference is not new to Mackinac Island. Republican dignitaries have been visiting the island for this short conference since 1953. In recent years, Romney has come (before), so has President George H. W. Bush, Speaker Newt Gingrich, Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Senator John McCain. Given the sharp exchanges between Perry and Romney at the recent CNN Republican debate, this conference promises to be in the eye of national politics.

Why is it that, despite Ron Paul winning most polls, all we’re fed by the mainstream is Perry and Romney? “Perry and Romney on Mackinac Island This Weekend” Wow. Guess who else is going to be there? Ron Paul! You know, the guy that won the Iowa Straw Poll, the most recent California Poll, the post debate poll on msnbc AND CNN. Yea, that guy. The one that “can’t win”. PLEASE STOP picking our front runner(s) FOR US, give all of the candidates equal air time/print, and let We The People decide who our front runner is!!! Oh yeah you wont do that because, unlike all the other candidates, Ron Paul actually will bring our troops home, get us back to a free market, and uphold his oath and obey the Constitution! Can’t have that now can we?
