Northern Michigan Attractions: It’s that time again. Spring has sprung in Northern Michigan, and that means morels. At Black Star Farms in Suttons Bay (near Traverse City), we’ve planned our annual morel hunt and feast for May 10th. With this year’s late spring in the Traverse City area, we are pretty sure there will still be some left to find in the woods at Black Star Farms, but rest assured, if there aren’t, we have our sources. Dinner will be a savory sampling of morel dishes paired with an assortment of fine Black Star Farm wines.
We started this Northern Michigan attraction about six years ago when we realized how much everyone loved morels and how many folks had no idea about their elusiveness. You’ll meet at the Inn at Black Star Farms at 5p.m. and start out on the search with a seasoned guide. If nothing else, the woods are beautiful at this time of year with trillium, other wildflowers and wild leeks in abundance.
Following the hunt at approximately 6 pm. you’ll meet up in our Pegasus Lounge for morel hors d’oeuvres and wine. Then it’s on to Chef Jonathan Dayton’s special morel dinner and dessert with wine pairing. All this at $75 per person plus 18% gratuity and tax.
Plus, the innkeepers are offering 20% off your nights stay at the Inn if you’d rather not drive home. Please dress for the weather and let us know if you have any dietary restrictions. Call for more information and reservations. 231.944.1251.
