After you’ve taken in the gorgeous views of the Glen Lakes in winter, head the four miles to Leelanau County’s charming town of Glen Arbor for the Glen Lake Chamber of Commerce Winterfest & Chili Cookoff.

The deck of Boonedock’s restaurant in downtown Glen Arbor is the heart of Glen Arbor’s Winterfest—that’s where the band The New Third Coast will be playing as winterfest fun-lovers sample unique chili recipes from Leelanau County restaurants. The Chili Cook-off will be held from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on February 19. Visitors are encouraged to sample and judge a variety of unique Chili Recipes with awards going to best in Traditional (beef) & Non-Traditional (any non-beef) Chilis.
When you’re not slurping chili, hit Glen Arbor’s charming shopping district for special discounts. The “Fishing for Discounts” shopping event begins on Friday, February 18. Shoppers “fish” for discounts from a fishbowl at participating stores. The shopping event runs all weekend long.
Not a shopper? Cast a line into Glen Lake and try to win the annual Perch Fishing Contest. The contest begins at 7 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, with the Weigh-In at 1 p.m. at The Sportsman Shop in downtown Glen Arbor.
