The month of December at Shanty Creek Resort, a Northern Michigan ski resort located in the charming town of Bellaire near Traverse City, is always an exciting time for winter sports enthusiasts of all ages and abilities.  The Northern Michigan resort is preparing to get the remainder of the downhill ski slopes fully open with events, as well as a number of holiday week festivities scheduled.
Shanty Creek Resorts in Bellaire, northeast of Traverse City, will have all of its downhill ski slopes open by December 17, when Summit Mountain opens for the season. Enjoy Northern Michigan’s most affordable lift ticket and ski or snowboard at Summit for just $10.  In addition the tubing hill will be open at Summit and night skiing until 10:00 p.m. at Schuss Mountain begins on that day.
Holiday week at Shanty Creek (ski) Resorts (December 25 – December 31) will kick off on Christmas Day, as guests can downhill ski free all-day with Santa from 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. During the week, the resort will also be open daily from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Shanty Creek Resorts will also be kicking in the New Year with fun parties and activities including the holiday themed Dominic Fortuna Dinner Show at Ivan’s on New Year’s Eve. This holiday dinner event includes a musical revue of Christmas and holiday themed music along with popular music from different decades with a winter/holiday twist. This dinner show is the perfect holiday event for families, holiday parties, and couples. The show costs $35.95 for adults and $19.95 for children under 12.
Resort guests will also enjoy a variety of other New Year’s Eve events including parties, free downhill skiing all day, the spectacular Torchlight Parade, as well as Fireworks over Schuss Mountain—a part of Shanty Creek ski resorts that is also located near Traverse City.
