Learn about organic grape and fruit farming as you wander the Good Neighbor Organic Vineyard and Winery in Northport in Leelanau County, Northern Michigan’s first and only totally Certified Organic Vineyard. Founder Stan Silverman explains why organic farming is no more difficult than conventional farming and how the difference really lies in the willingness to be proactive and react specifically to specific conditions.
Good Neighbor Organic Vineyard has been selling certified organic products since 2001, producing the first organic wines in 2007. This year, Good Neighbor offered five crafted hard ciders/fruits; and a limited availability of wines, including only 400 bottles of our Gerwurtztraminer. Also new in 2010 is the introduction of Ice Wines, a Chardonnay/Riesling blend, a fruit dessert wine and an Apple Jack style wine that is not a Brandy but does come in at 40 proof. All of these are Certified Organic.
