The Traverse City Trollbeads Trunk Show takes place this weekend, September 24-26, 2010, at Nifty Things in downtown Traverse City. The Trunk Show will feature the new autumn collection for 2010 and also highlight the Nifty Things "Wine Harvest Bracelet," evoking the rich colors of the vineyard landscape in Northern Michigan for any wine lover.
Originally, Trollbeads were quirky silver beads that resembled Trolls and were designed with a hole in them to be strung together. Launched in Denmark in 1976, they are credited with being the original charm bead bracelet and were sold primarily in the family jewelry store in Copenhagen. In the 1980s, they came up with a lock that could be manually removed and then reattached, making it possible to mix and match Trollbeads into unique combinations.
Trollbeads began to export to the United States and other countries toward the end of the 1990s and the types of beads offered expanded as well. Today, Trollbeads are made of glass, silver, 18-carot-gold, precious and semi-precious stones and pearls.
You don’t have to be a sommelier to appreciate the "Wine Harvest Bracelet," a custom Trollbeads bracelet from Nifty Things mixing beads in deep purples, ambers and golds with silver accents that conjure up the Northern Michigan landscape as the sun hits the region’s vineyards.
The Traverse City Trollbeads Trunk Show will be held at Nifty Things, at 143 E. Front Street in downtown Traverse City. Call 231-929-9665 for details.
