More than 10 musical acts and dozens of local companies will take part in the 2010 ISLAND Benefit Concert this Saturday, April 17 at Short’s Brewing Company in Bellaire.

The annual fundraising event, which raises proceeds for area non-profit ISLAND (Institute for Sustainable Living, Art & Natural Design), includes musical performances from a who’s who list of Michigan artists, as well as a silent auction. Artists scheduled to perform include Josh Davis, Seth Bernard, May Erlewine, Darlene, Jen Sygit, Chris Dorman, Gifts or Creatures, Laura Bates, Susan Fawcett, Jam Rek, DJ Martoosh, Mike Shimmin and special guests to be announced. The event goes from 4 p.m. until midnight.

A suggested $10 donation gets attendees access to all musical performances, plus the silent auction. Items up for bid include local food goods, artisan crafts, handmade fashion wear, art, season passes to Shanty Creek Resort, and gift certificates to businesses including Green Island, Pleasanton Bakery, Rolling Farms Deli, Moka and more.

A shuttle bus service will be offered from Higher Grounds Trading Company at the Village at Grand Traverse Commons in Traverse City to Short’s Brewing Company in Bellaire and back. To reserve a spot on the bus, call Higher Grounds at 877-825-2262.
