The once a week class, featuring many area health and fitness-related experts, covers a wide range of topics related to running and many aspects of leading a physically active lifestyle year-round.
The focus of the class is not on competitive running, but on running for health and fitness. Participants attend a once a week class in a sit down format and then use a 3 session per week take-home walk-run program that culminates with being able to run for 30 minutes at a time. The class is appropriate for persons of all ages and abilities.
The class is created and instructed by Lisa Taylor, a Traverse City Track Club member and avid runner and award winning cross country coach at Traverse City Central High School. Over 300 area people have taken Taylor’s beginning running classes since 1992.
The class meets on Monday nights from 6:30-7:30 p.m. inside the Running Fit store on South Airport Road in Traverse City. Cost of the class is $90, or $75 each when you sign up with a “buddy." Past class participants are invited to take the class at half price.
Registration forms are available at both Running Fit stores in Traverse City, and more information is available by contacting class instructor Lisa Taylor at her e-mail address, ltaylor@chartermi.net or by phone 231-631-2195.
