The Underground Cheesecake Co. is baking something beachy out of cheesecake (natch), Pleasanton Brick Oven Bakery is going crazy with something (thus far unknown), and Sweet Asylum is working on something really groovy, involving pretzels. That should give you a the flavor of the tasteful art that chefs, merchants and resident artists of The Village at Grand Traverse Commons are cooking up.
The edible masterpieces will be displayed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the Great Indoor Farmers Market at The Village’s Mercato and in merchant windows. Market-goers will have the opportunity to cast votes for their favorite objets d’vegetable (or fruit or bread) for $1. There will also be a silent auction. All proceeds benefit local food banks.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Grand Traverse Pie Company presents "Kids Make & Take" Road Show in Suite 25. Children learn about local agriculture, while handcrafting their very own pie! Donations (optional) support our local foster youth. Also bid on a gigantic GTPC Pie, a 7-pie equivalent, and either take it home or we’ll happily bring it to our local Goodwill Inn! Great fun for the entire family! Directions: In Traverse City, Division (US31) to Eleventh Street. Turn West on 11th. Proceed two blocks, and follow the signs.
