Husband and wife team Fred and Jo Anne Campbell of Benziejo Decoys, create world-champion wooden fish decoys from their studio and gallery just south of Benzonia. Since 1997, Fred has carved the fish, and Jo Anne has carefully painted each of their characteristic markings. The Campbells make over 95 species and subspecies of trout, salmon and pan fish. These objet d’art are also working decoys—tested, waterproofed and realistic enough to trick any finicky fish. Pictured here is a brown trout resting on his wooden stand, $78. Wooden Fish Decoys are available at Michigan’s Gifts and Treasures, Interlochen, 231-632-8175 or through BenjieJo, 231-882-9827, benziejo.com.
