I tie a fly I call a Gremlin. It seems to imitate a hatching stone fly.
I tie it on a 2X long dry fly hook (sizes 10 to 16);
Tail: a significant pinch of natural brn calf tail;
Body: substantial mahogany dubbing
Backwing: pinch of matching calftail;
Hackle: one grizzly and one coachman brn.
Trout on the upper Manistee and AuSable seem to like quite well.
