You choose your route: 40 K, 20 K or 10 K (classic or freestyle). But any distance you go, the White Pine Stampede begins at Mancelona high school and winds over hill, dale and groomed trail to finish at the Shanty Creek Resort & Club.
Here’s the info you need to earn the chance to belly up to the Shanty Creek bar and say, "I finished!"
Friday, February 6, 2009: Packet Pickup at Shanty Creek Resort 3 pm – 9 pm.
Saturday, February 7, 2009: 7:30am to your race start time. New entries and registration changes must be completed 45 minutes prior to the scheduled race start time.
Race start times: 40 K classic & freestyle – 9:30 am; 20 K classic & freestyle – 10:30 am; 10 K tour classic & freestyle – 11 am.

Can’t get enough Nordic racing? Those skis are still steamin’, don’t put them away! the North American VASA Sprints are Sunday, February 8, 2009, in Traverse City’s Warehouse District (behind InsideOut Gallery at 211 Garland) from 2 to 5 p.m. This is the first time the sprints have been held in downtown Traverse City in a decade! Thank you snow god! Even if you don’t ski, bring your cowbell and come and ring the skiers in.
The course is a half-K three lap oval. The race is a two heat elimination and, depending on the number of racers, will be either a team relay or individuals.
