Do some late-afternoon shopping on Boyne City’s white-light-and-tree-lined streets, then step out of the sparkling cold evening into the warmth of Water Street Café. This chandelier-adorned and locally adored lunch spot becomes a weekend supper club with rotated comforts like beef roast and meatloaf, as well as regular appearances by owner Val Glasgow’s Italian grandma’s pasta and meatballs, six-cheese ravioli and a beautifully breaded chicken Parmesan. No wine or beer list, but Glasgow tempts with a different kind of indulgence: her rich espresso and a comforting, crackly-crisp cannoli or a dish of warm homemade bread pudding like banana with caramel sauce or pumpkin with dried fruits. Fridays and Saturdays, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. 113 Water St., Boyne City, 231-582-9929.
