The Traverse City Visitor Center’s new fall exhibit, “Fall Color Adventures,” is a cornucopia of items guaranteed to stimulate new ideas for getting out amid the area’s autumn wonders – from a lemon-yellow scooter and a fully-equipped mountain bike to a simple hiking staff. There are also plenty of ideas for autumn events, concerts and activities and lots of possible destinations. That could mean a trip to the Grand Traverse Lighthouse with a stop to sample the antique apples at Kilcherman’s Christmas Cove, a wine-tasting tour of the Old Mission peninsula, a walk to see spawning salmon at the Boardman River fish weir, or a traditional excursion to Moomer’s Homemade Ice Cream.
“Fall Color Adventures” also includes detailed maps, schedules and other materials to help visitors choose the activities that best suit their schedules. The new exhibit will be open for viewing in the gallery of the Traverse City Visitor Center until the end of the season. Located at the corner of Union Street and Grandview Parkway, the Visitor Center is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday through mid-October. After that, it is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and is closed on Sundays.
