Service-starved diners, rejoice. Edith Gilbert, Charlevoix’s wedding-planning, party-giving, modern etiquette expert, took on the task of elevating everyday exchanges in her resort town’s restaurants. Says Gilbert: “People complain about service, but they never say a word to the restaurant manager, only to me as we walk to the parking lot.”
With the encouragement of Jeff Sprecksell from the Weathervane Restaurant, Gilbert devised a waiter and waitress guide to be distributed to all Charlevoix Chamber member restaurants in time for the tourist-thronged summer season, so even the greenest waitperson knows that the salad goes on the left.
