Long Lake’s long-loved dairy farm and ice cream oasis, Moomers, was picked from hundreds of ice cream shops across the country to be in the final four of Good Morning America‘s Best Scoops Contest, along with Shubert’s Ice Cream and Candy in Chico, California, Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor in Dania Beach, Florida, and Ron’s Gourmet Ice Cream in Hyde Park, Massachusetts.

Votes were cast, and last Friday ice cream confectioner Nancy Plummer got the call from Good Morning America that Moomers won! Moomers is best known for their homemade Cherries Moobilee—black cherry ice cream with Michigan black sweet cherries, red tart cherries, chocolate fudge swirl and chunks of homemade brownies. Stop in for a cone and say hi to Bessie out back at 7263 N. Long Lake Rd. in Traverse City.

Dream about all of Moomers’ 101 homemade creamery concoctions—black walnut, apple crisp, fresh apricot, German chocolate, butter brickle—and see their spot on Good Morning America here.
