This skunk shampoo will come in handy this summer!
Ingredients:
- 1 pint hydrogen peroxide
- 2/3 cup baking soda
- 1 tablespoon liquid dish soap, preferably citrus-based
Directions:
Combine all ingredients. The mixture will bubble. Sponge on dog. Let sit five minutes, then rinse with plain water. The concoction oxidizes the stink-causing mercaptans in skunk spray. Note: The solution must be mixed when needed; if the brew isn’t bubbling, the reaction will not work.
Have used this twice and it works. Had to give 4 baths one particularly bad time, but it works much better than tomato juice.
Sounds helpful. Does it work on cats? I have one cat who likes to “dance” with skunks. Ever given a cat a bath? I can think of 10,000 things I’d rather do.
Please adivse, Meg
