CHARLEVOIX: The Charlevoix Public Library is pleased to be offering five sets of dance workshops for Northern Michigan children this January and February in Charlevoix.

Dance with Me for toddlers, 18 months to three years will introduce little ones to class structure through movement, music and imagination.  The series will be on Mondays, January 11to February 15 from 10:30 to 11 a.m. in the Youth Activity Center.  There is no fee for these classes and drop-ins are welcome.  Please plan to arrive five minutes before class begins.

The Creative Movement Series will be on Wednesdays, January 13 to February 17 from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m.  This series is designed for 2 to 3 year olds.  Toddlers will be introduced to the art of ballet dance, including movement and rhythm games done to inspiring music.  Pre-registration is required.  The fee for the series is $10. This is a parent/child class where the child moves and the parent stays and observes.

The Winter Hip Hop Workshop is a six week series for 6-10 year olds that will introduce your child to hip hop dance to age-appropriate music in a healthy and nurturing environment. The series will take place on Wednesdays, January 13 to February 17, 7:00 to 7:45 p.m. in the Youth Activity Center. Pre-registration is required.  The fee for the series is $10. Class attire is comfortable, athletic clothing and indoor-use only sneakers.

The Prince and Princess Ballet Workshop is a six week series for 3 to 5 year olds using princess-themed music and props to introduce your child to ballet positions and movement, French terminology and classroom etiquette in a fun, yet disciplined manner. The series will take place   Wednesdays, January 13 to February 17, from 5:00 to 5:45 p.m.  Pre-registration is required.  The fee for the series is $10. Class attire is tight fitting, athletic clothing or leotard with ballet shoes or bare feet.

For the older 6 to 8 year olds, another Princess and Prince Ballet series will be held on Wednesdays, January 13 to 17 from 6:00 to 6:45 p.m. It will introduce children to ballet positions and movement. Pre-registration is required.  The fee for the series is $10. Class attire is tight fitting, athletic clothing or leotard with ballet shoes or bare feet.

All workshops will be taught by Kristi Epping, a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Oklahoma City University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dance Management.  Epping has danced professionally throughout the United States, Canada and Caribbean with Royal Caribbean International and Six Flags.  Since relocating to Northern Michigan, she has focused her attention on teaching creative movement, ballet, tap, jazz and musical theatre, all while starting a family.  Kristi is looking forward to sharing her love of dance. The library is pleased to sponsor these programs.
