Becky Thatcher Designs: Handcrafted jewelry and gifts inspired by Northern Michigan’s waters and woods

At ten years old, a young Ohioan named Becky Thatcher made her first piece of jewelry while staying at Leelanau County’s Camp Kohana.  Since then, Thatcher has relocated to Northern Michigan and established herself as one of the area’s premier jewelry designers.

By sourcing many of her stones from nearby beaches—and even long-lost rock collections discovered in local basements—Thatcher channels her passion for Northern Michigan into her work. “Local stones have an earthy, soulful quality that I just love,” Thatcher says.  Her work, though, ranges far beyond jewelry, and stretches from small sculpture to pocket knifes.  Thatcher’s inclusion of Northern Michigan themes and materials make for unique, eye-catching pieces: “I’m proud to put something out there that’s worthy of being passed down from one generation to the next,” says Thatcher.

Becky Thatcher Designs is based in Glen Arbor, with shops in Leland, Harbor Springs and Traverse City.  Becky Thatcher Designs is a featured retailer at ShopMyNorth.
