Job Details

Job Summary: Functions under the direct supervision of Therapists and Therapist assistants. The Technician is responsible for preparing treatment areas, cleaning treatment areas, obtainment of supplies, transporting, positioning, and in assisting patients/clients, therapist, and therapist assistants in the completion of the therapy treatment plan. The technician/aide may also be assigned routine clerical support tasks in support of the patient care process.

Minimum Requirements: High school graduate. Must be knowledgeable of the operation of modalities including indications and contra-indications. Must be computer literate.

Position Accountabilities:

Provides and supports patient/ client care delivery in accordance with established practice standards and facility/ departmental/ regulatory/payer policies and procedures for clinical setting and populations served.

Performs modalities (such as hot/cold packs, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, exercise, whirlpools, ambulation, possible pool exercise class.)

Transports patients/clients to and from Rehabilitation Services departments

Prepares patient/client for treatment and assists professional staff with patient/client treatments.

Communicates with patients, families, significant others and members of the health care team to promote maximum benefits for care.

Obtains equipment, materials and supplies from storage areas or appropriate department, and prepares them for use.

Maintain established levels of supplies including linens, crutches, canes, bandages, and office supplies.

Maintains therapy department(s) in a clean and orderly condition. (Equipment, kitchen, windows, rooms, bathrooms. etc.)

Performs routine clerical support tasks, which may include reception, scheduling, telephone, billing, ordering of supplies, and collection of facility/department statistics.

Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, and quality assurance, safety.

Participate in educational programs and in-service meetings as required and attend meetings as required.

Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients/clients, visitors and staff.

Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions.

Complies with appropriate and approved safety standards

Utilizes appropriate leadership skills in delegating, organizing and educating coworkers and staff.

Participates in and contributes to quality improvement process.

Distinguishes between low and high priority activities.

Makes effective use of discretionary time.
