Perform a variety of duties to assist in the installation, maintenance, calibration, inspection, testing, troubleshooting and repair of all plant instrumentation, controls, and automation; including pneumatic, electric, electronic measurement and control equipment.Â Install and maintain/program all programmable logic controllers.Â Provide technical support, training, and advice to assist employees in the effective use of computer software and hardware at the Manistee facility.Â Ensure that all automatically controlled machinery operates optimally under relevant computerized or PLC control.
Responsibilities Major Accountabilities
â¢Maintain a safe working environment.Â Understand, follow, and support company policies, procedures (i.e. lockout/tagout, hot work, confined spaces, etc.) in addition to corporate and local safety initiatives.Â Be proactive in the area of safety, including anticipating unsafe behaviors, conditions, and unusual circumstances.
â¢Serve as a technical resource for the Manistee facility.Â Advise, consult, and facilitate activities with Operators, Engineers, Managers, Electricians, outside contractors, manufacturing representatives or other outside consultants on maintenance problems and projects.Â This includes identifying the hardware and software needed to provide solutions to problems.
â¢Maintain, troubleshoot, and train users on facility PLCs, robot controls, automated equipment, and automation systems.
â¢Maintain, calibrate, and train users on facility instrumentation, controllers, chart recorders, and alarm enunciators.
â¢Maintain and troubleshoot as needed plant PC’s, routers, switches, VPN, servers, and databases to determine causes of malfunctions.Â Propose corrective actions to recurring system failures.
â¢Assist in the customization and adaptation of existing program to meet users’ requirements, including databases, spreadsheets, web pages, PLC software, and automation software.
â¢Deliver quality products and services to all internal and external customers.
â¢Follow all Safety, Environmental and Quality Control policies and procedures to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operations of facility equipment.Â This includes staying current with all required company and job related training.
â¢Oversee capital and expense projects as requested.
â¢Perform other related duties as required.
Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices; maintain records as required and is familiar with the principles of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) Program.Â Inform the Plant Engineer of any issues, understanding the importance of product safety, legality and quality.
Will become familiar, through training, with the Environmental Management System policy, procedures or work instructions and understands the potential consequences of departure from the requirement.Â Notify management of any observed or potential compliance issues or nonconformities.
Qualifications Required Experience and Education:
â¢Associates degree or similar course completion in mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation technology.
â¢One to three years of experience with the theory and field practice of analog and digital instrument control.
â¢One to three years of experience with various forms of process loop control schemes.
â¢One to three years related industrial controls experience.Other Desirable Experience, Knowledge or Skills:
â¢Familiar with electrical and mechanical interrelationships of automated machine components
â¢Familiar with intricate high speed packaging/conveying/palletizing machinery
â¢Coal boiler experience
â¢Experienced in instrumentation maintenance, calibration and operation
â¢Proficient in Allen Bradley PLC software and Panelview software
â¢Proficient in DeltaV software
â¢Proficient in Intellutions software
â¢Proficient in Fanuc Robot software
â¢Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivated, hands-on individual with strong team and analytical skills require to establish and maintain professional trust relationships.
â¢Strong verbal and written communication skills
â¢Conflict resolution skills
â¢Trained and well-versed in project and time management
