About Banquet Server – On Call

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Must be 18 years of age. Minimum of one-year experience preferred. Must be TIPS Certified or able to pass certification upon hire.

SUMMARY
The banquet server is responsible for banquet needs including some set up, breakdown and clean up of Hors d’ oeuvre, buffet and beverage areas. The servers’ goals will be to provide “seamless”, professional, and courteous service in a fast-paced exciting environment. Banquets must be set and ready 15 minutes prior to start time. This position requires the employee to be available mornings, afternoons and evenings, including week days, weekends and holiday’s. If a current EDC – Gaming employee is interested, their primary position’s schedule will take priority at all times. If a current employee is hourly, the banquet hours shall not result in overtime being forced upon the primary department later in the week.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Check and detail set ups and prep areas as needed
• Work closely with Chef’s and kitchen team members
• Service guests upon arrival to the banquet areas.
• Lift and carry heavy trays of food, beverage, dishes, glasses, and supplies (i.e. Linen, bus tubs, centerpieces, chaffing dishes etc.)
• Deliver food and beverages to guest’s table or areas in a timely, friendly and professional manner
• Butler style upon request (present and carry trays of food through the room)
• Suggestively sell and serve bar beverages responsibly, and within legal guidelines
• Constantly maintain guests dining tables and areas; including pre-busing and clearing of all dirty dishes, silverware, glassware, paper, and debris according to service standards. At the end of the guests’ meals, servers will have their tables pre-bussed to the guests’ last beverage glasses and/or spoons
• Perform all side work duties (to include opening, ongoing, and closing duties) and specific duties assigned by the supervisor or manager
• Communicate with managers/supervisors/Chefs regarding shift activities, problems, and product concerns
• Monitor the condition of the dining room cleanliness and appearance and assist in dining room maintenance when necessary
• Always keep updated on current casino promotions
• Willingness to cross-train and provide support in related areas of operations.
• Other related duties as assigned.

OTHER NECESSARY SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have excellent customer service and communication skills. Must be a team player with a positive attitude. Must be highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks at one time. Must possess the ability to work with various personalities while maintaining impartiality. Must respond to supervisory guidance and assignments and accept constructive criticisms in order to learn new, updated information. The needs for quickness and ease of adjustment to the work environment and flexibility to change are essential in this position.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Will be required to lift up to 40 lbs. and be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time. May also be required to reach, bend, stretch, and kneel.

TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS
Must be able to effectively handle stressful and compromising situations while remaining focused and professional. Must be able to deal with difficult people without losing perspective. Must be able to work productively under strict time restraints with variable deadlines.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able and willing to work in a crowded and noisy environment. At times may be subject to a smoke filled environment. Must be able to handle being under constant surveillance. Must practice all safety policies, procedures and standards as set by OSHA.

COMMENTS
Native American and Tribal Preference will apply. Must be able to pass a background investigation and a drug and alcohol urinalysis as a condition of employment. Must be able to work flexible hours and to take on additional responsibilities when asked. Must adhere to company policies regarding strict confidentiality.
